Just Some More Pendants

Here are just some in progress pics of some more things I made earlier this week. This time with a step by step procedure!

Here the pendants are with just paint. I like the shape and size of the small squid pendants but they have an annoying texture on them that takes a few layers of paint to cover.

The two spiders on the left are ones that were done in a previous batch, just to compare textures.

Also some bug pendants for a friend of mine. She's going to hook me up with some hissing cockroaches!

This is them after mixing and pouring the epoxy. The bubbles are normal and slowly pop away after an hour. Usually they end up nice and clear.

But this time they didn't turn out clear. All of them have microscopic bubbles all over the place in the glaze. I don't know how this happened since the normal bubbled all popped and it was only a few hours after being clear that the small bubbles started appearing.

This close up shows the detail better but still doesn't really show how obvious the bubbles are. The whole thing looks like it is covered with a light speckled layer of dust.

Oh well. Epoxy is usually easy to use but you do have to follow the instructions exactly. Good thing most of these will be going to friends!

Flowers

What started out as a simple absent-minded 15 second doodle of some swirling curves quickly grew out of control and into this. Maybe later I will put a little more detail into the colors, but for now I like it how it is.

A gift from Maggie

Today I got my package from my friend Voodoo Maggie in Oregon. Boy was I looking forward to this. She wanted me to take photos of the package opening process because of how proud she was of it. Little did I know just how insane it was...

So it starts out nice with another one of the prizes that she sent me. A cute crocheted pumpkin simply wrapped in one sheet of tissue paper. But then what is this?

A box wrapped in Michaels coupons. That doesn't seem too bad for packaging things...

Stickers. And duct tape.

Who packages things in duct tape?!

Lucky for me the tape started ripping in a neat line after a while so I could skip unwrapping all of it. It seemed to be one continuous piece.

Under the box was a small glitter covered dinosaur.

More tissue and tape. This time just normal packing tape. Which might actually be worse.

Just showing how much tape was on this thing.

Another layer of packaging.

Why would there be a yarn ball? I don't use yarn. But I know what to do with this. I gave the ball to my dog and let her do what she loves to do.

Ten minutes later and the yarn was out of my way.

I think Maggie just wanted to get rid of some of her junk she didn't want anymore.

This wad also had a small mushroom in it. Which is pretty cool.
Too much tissue paper.

Okay?

At this point I am wondering if there is even anything in here at all...

After all of this, I got a teeny tiny yeti toy.  Here is a picture just to show how much packaging went into getting this thing to me.

And finally here is a close up of the yeti. Was it worth it?

You can find Maggie's shop on etsy here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/voodoomaggie
I promise that she usually does not use this much tape.

Doodles

I'm still catching up on things since school is starting soon. For now here are some scraps of stuff that I did.

By the way have any of you seen the music video that the second doodles are based off of? Crazy stuff. Though I think the lyrics are a little lame. It is a song about clapping to feel better.

See you around!

Vacation

Look at my red wall! So yes, I was on vacation for a little while. Making a terribly low amount of art things.
I was able to do a few pieces of ceramic pottery. The clay was fun to work with but some of the glazes didn't turn out how I thought they would. The blue monster was supposed to be shiny. Oh well.

I also did a few little monster things like these, which wasn't really the best idea. Ceramics is different from sculpey and isn't made for small stuff like this. So they broke a little. I will make some sculpey versions later.

No More Sharing Allowed

So I'm still going to be working on those cards, but I shouldn't post any more work-in-progress pics. Yeah, now the only way to see them would be to buy the card set on Halloween!

So in the meantime I will just be posting some ink and color work of my school doodles now and then. And some other warm up stuff.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Special Not Cartoon Edition!

Instead  I'll provide a link to the musical Starship.
It's got everything I like: Giant bug aliens, great characters, funny actors, puppets, pop culture references, goofy music, and enough cheesiness to make it all fun. This is the kind of stuff my ten year old self would kill to see. It's so much fun!

But be warned, it is 3 hours long.

I can't possibly post all of the videos of it here, so I will only provide part one, and a link to the YouTube playlist.

Not Much to Update With

I've been experimenting a little with drawing without leaving any lines. I don't know the word for it, if there even is a word. I kinda like it.

More Class Doodles

This batch of doodles is from another one of my classes. Biology. I've noticed that the more comfortable I am with the class's subject matter, the more willing I am to draw in it. This means that I not only get good grades in my math and science classes, but I also draw a lot in them. English and history classes, not so much.

Friday will be the end of this class scribble submissions.

Class Time Doodles

I draw during class. Who doesn't. These are from my notebook for math class. Some of them aren't very good. Some aren't even finished. But here they are anyways, binder paper and all.

Wednesday I'll scan in my biology class drawings.

School is Over

So the spring semester went by pretty quick and now I have a whole month off before I start my summer classes! Yay! This means that I will probably be able to work on a lot more stuff to post, and Monday I'll start posting all of my doodles from my notebooks.

Oh by the way, I hope everyone enjoyed the Rapture. I enjoyed it at the Makers Faire in San Mateo. I wasn't all the interested in most of the stuff I saw there, but I did meet some cool artists. And I got a mug.  This greeted my mom when she went to get a cup for coffee.

If there's two things I like it's monsters and mugs.

And it fits perfectly with my cluttered shelf.

The price was actually pretty reasonable for an art-show mug. Other places would be selling stuff of the same quality for 40 bucks. For that much money I could have gotten three of these. Which I hope I will do one of these days.

Introducing, the Monsters

So on Friday these guys showed up, and I felt bad for not saying much in my post about them. So here they are nice and big with some useless information.

Glor likes being alone. This is not easy since she has 5014 siblings. She has a crush on Fracor but has not said anything to him yet.

Spis says he is from the planet Saturn. He is a chronic liar. He is actually from Reno.

Fracor enjoys watching sunsets on the beach. He always smells like seawater and chalk.

Misty came to earth to try the food there. His favorite food is blue minty toothpaste.

Gelleye tries to be good but is actually very perverted. He does feel very bad after doing something perverted though.

Blobbins are actually semi-sentient fruit from the future. Their color reflects their flavor and their personality. This is the only one I should find since the rest of them like to hide. He tasted like blueberries and apples.

Oh the drama of these guys. What wacky shenanigans will they get into next? See you later.
