Class Time Doodles

I draw during class. Who doesn't. These are from my notebook for math class. Some of them aren't very good. Some aren't even finished. But here they are anyways, binder paper and all.

Wednesday I'll scan in my biology class drawings. 

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Does anyone remember the What A Cartoon show? Both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network would have their own show of nothing but one shot cartoon shorts. Nick had Oh Yeah! cartoons, and CN had What a Cartoon. Lots of times the pilot episodes for later cartoon series were originally shown on these kinds of things. Here's a half hour of some of them.I have to admit though, that these ones I picked are a little weird, but that's why I like em.

 

 

 

Sticks

I thought that since I probably wouldn't have much more time with them, I should at least share a little about my most interesting pets. I am talking of course, about stick bugs. 

I originally got these guys almost a year ago from an aunt up in Chico (though they are really southern California stick bugs). I had six of them all in a mayo jar with a few rose branches.

To put the size of them when I got them in comparison with the size of this one, they were smaller than my thumbnail when I got them. Yep, these things start tiny and get huge. They lived with plenty of room in a half gallon fishbowl in the bathroom. I have to be honest though, I was lucky to have such a lazy-friendly pet. They can go months with no food! Not that I would wait that long of course!!! And I moved them to a bigger tank when they got too big for the fishbowl.

 

They were great pets and I always really liked how I could see them swaying slightly whenever they slowly walked.  

Unfortunately, I don't think that they are meant to have very long lifespans. In a few months it will have been a year since I got them, but all but one have already passed on. I'm sure this one won't have much longer either, so I'm trying to make it as nice as possible for it.

School is Over

 

So the spring semester went by pretty quick and now I have a whole month off before I start my summer classes! Yay! This means that I will probably be able to work on a lot more stuff to post, and Monday I'll start posting all of my doodles from my notebooks.  

Oh by the way, I hope everyone enjoyed the Rapture. I enjoyed it at the Makers Faire in San Mateo. I wasn't all the interested in most of the stuff I saw there, but I did meet some cool artists. And I got a mug.  This greeted my mom when she went to get a cup for coffee.

  If there's two things I like it's monsters and mugs.

And it fits perfectly with my cluttered shelf.

The price was actually pretty reasonable for an art-show mug. Other places would be selling stuff of the same quality for 40 bucks. For that much money I could have gotten three of these. Which I hope I will do one of these days. 

Furry Stuff

Not much to update with today. Here's a simple doodle of one of my friends who keeps designing herself as an opossum. No she does not consider herself a furry. Yes she calls herself a tool.

Being Distracted

Not much to update with today. I've been watching Lets Plays of Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie. I wish I still had my N64. All the games I liked were on there.



Oh and here's a random left over witch.

The Rise of the Robotic Werewolf

I think these doodles started out being inspired by me and some of my friends hanging out in the comics section of the bookstore. Long story short, someone said some Naruto character looked like a robot werewolf and the phrase stuck in my head for three days.

This sketch includes all of the variations of the designs that I came up with.

And finally a marker colored version as well as a clay painted head that I made.

I actually am happy I was somehow able to make a passable colored version on paper. And it felt so nice working with cay again. I've been too busy to really work with much so even doing that little bit was a nice break.

Oh by the way, I figured out what was so wrong with my squirtle. Here's a pic of squirtle off of google.

 So obviously he is supposed to have the red on his eyes, the paint just got the white and black of the eyes messed up. Somehow, my squirtle now just doesn't seem as unique as I thought of him before......

Art Class Project and Mall-Finds

Today I had to turn in a project I had to do for my Art of Americas class. It's more like a history lecture class but this final project actually told us to make something. I knew what I was going to make as soon as I saw these pots.

I dunno why, but I really liked the shapes and the handles. So I used the only materials I had (newspaper, glue, and acrylic paints) to make my stupid project. I haven't done paper-mache in years, but I think now I will try to do it more often.

Saturday Morning Cartoons!

I decided to add a new block to the blog line-up. Every Saturday I will dig up at least a good half hour of cartoons straight from the lands of Youtube. How ya like that?
I'll start off with some classic cartoons that I grew up with. These bring back a lot of memories.

Space Gals

Squids. Wait, no....

Over the weekend a friend of mine wanted me to make some designs of squids to iron onto her sweatshirt, so I upped the ante and included a bunch of other guys in the same class! Here's the few that I finished but i I still have about 20 more that I need to do now.

Also I'm sorry there's been no updates recently. I can't find the time or energy to post things when there's a production week in the newspaper. And we just had two production weeks in a row so I seriously don't have much to show.
